Q&A with Sallianne Nicholls

Director of Mail Services

Tell us about running the Lettershop division.

It is all about rules and regulations, paperwork and forms, scheduling and quality control. All stuff that us “production type” people love.

Describe your typical day at Austin & Williams.

This is advertising – there is no such thing as a typical day. That is what I love about our industry. There is always a new and exciting challenge on the horizon (translation: there is always a fire to be put out.).

What’s the most challenging part of running the letter shop?

Timing! It always seems that all jobs come in at the same time and all need to be out on the same day. I love the challenge of scheduling the jobs to be timely and trying to surpass delivery expectations.

Tell us the truth, are you a shopaholic?

I confess! I can’t help myself! I’ve tried to stop but then I see something that is a must have (either for me or someone else). I’m told I get a panicked look on my face if I near a store exit with no purchase.

What song would people be surprised to hear on your iPod?

Jimmy Buffet (which is not on my iPod, I am anti-parrot head).

Do you have a green thumb?

Yes, for flowers, but I seem to be a shrub killer! I’m trying to work on that.
