A&W's Robert Harrison Attends the Blessing of the Bikes

April 5, 2010

For those who bike or boat, a familiar ritual that often kicks off the new season is the annual blessing. For both bikes and boats, it's the same. You meet with a large group of like-minded enthusiasts, show off your conveyance, and party with your friends while your vehicles (and you) are blessed. The blessing and prayer  always conveys the same basic theme:  hopes for  an enjoyable, hazard free and safe season.

This year, our Director of Interactive Services, Robert Harrison, rode with his HOG Chapter to attend the Blessing of the Bikes in Long Island City the day before Easter Sunday, Saturday, April 3rd.

It was obvious to all who attended that the Pastor giving the invocation was also an experienced biker. His prayer included special requests that the potholes be quickly repaired, that we have much space between us and distracted drivers who are texting or putting on make-up while driving and that the season be warm and free of too much rain. And if that didn't make it obvious he was a biker, the leather chaps he wore definitely did.

The ceremony was followed by several group rides, one of which went into the city on a riding tour of Manhattan cathedrals. And for Robert and his group, the day ended by returning home to a pig roast at Miracle Mile Harley in Great Neck.
