Why Wait Until Sunday?

It's that time of year again! Have you placed your bets? Not on the winning team, but on who will have the best Super Bowl commercials?

Last year the big "winners" around here were Volkswagen, Chrysler, Doritos and Bridgestone, but we are very anxious to see who comes up with the best creative for Super Bowl XLVI.

This year, we don't have to wait to start our judging!

Did Newsweek Go Too Far?

The latest issue of Newsweek has a picture of President Obama, and the headline, "Why are Obama's critics so dumb?"

Campaign politics have never been easy or pleasant, and there's way too much negativity. For those who believe the media is supposed to simply report facts as "the fourth estate" in an unbiased and balanced manner, well, that doesn't really happen too often. It's easy to tell from the editorial pages of The Wall Street Journal that the famous financial paper leans Republican, just as it's obvious that The NY Times favors Democrats in a far left or liberal way.

But what about a magazine cover?

Have You Cut the Cord?

Getting rid of traditional TVDo you still subscribe to cable TV? Most of us do - but a trend called Cord Cutting is beginning to catch on. Cord Cutting is the phrase used for those who are canceling their cable subscriptions (or never signing up) and using digital platforms like Netflix and Hulu to watch programming instead.

Television Is Still King!

TV adsThe 2011 television upfront has wrapped up and it appears that TV advertising is back. The upfront allows marketers to buy commercial airtime "up front", or several months before the television season begins. Not only are the ad commitments higher than last year (between $8.8 billion and $9.3 billion across the five broadcast networks), but the networks are seeing impressive increases in CPMs.

Blog World NYC 2011: Day 2 Recap

Blog World Recap 2011Blog World was a great conference. If you missed my recap of day one, you can read it here. There is definitely something gained by actually being at the conference that you wouldn't get by just following the hashtag on Twitter or viewing the slides on Slideshare. Spending the full session time completely focused on a particular topic, in addition to the in-person conversations, really allowed me to get a clear idea as to where things are going.
