Saving Suki

By Rick Chiorando

Saving Suki"Saving Suki" has a nice alliteration to it, which was done by design, see the plan is to write and illustrate a children's book about how cool it is to save a rescue... To give an animal a second chance when the only other option they may have is a date with a needle.

My rescue is Suki. Found running loose in Manhattan, kicking over garbage cans for food and drinking rain water, Suki was picked up and brought to a shelter where she was pushed into a crate at the back of the facility. She was just an hour from being euthanized when I got an email from a friend asking for someone to please save Suki and foster her until they could find her a forever home.

Unleashed

By A&W Unplugged Team

We love dogs (and all pets for that matter). We don’t try to hide it at all. Anyone visiting the office on a regular basis has met Suki, Jesse, Amber or the many other canines we bring in. We wanted to take a few minutes to share with you the stories of how some of us came to adopt some of our pets - many of which came from shelters and rescue organizations right here on Long Island.

Help Bring a Space Shuttle to NYC!

By Megan Kilgallen

NASA is retiring its Space Shuttle fleet and has announced that it will make three space shuttles - Discovery, Endeavor and Atlantis - available to different institutions throughout the United States.

New York City would make an ideal home for one of these retiring shuttles. The Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum has applied to NASA for consideration to bring the shuttle to New York City's west side. The shuttle would be prominently displayed alongside of The USS Intrepid and the Growler Submarine at Manhattan's Pier 86.

Please visit www.shuttle2nyc.com to sign the petition to NASA to help bring a space shuttle to NYC and to the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum.
